Our club takes pride in our Managed Trails. Our volunteers work hard to keep them safe and passable. If you encounter an unsafe condition please let us know. Below is a link to a map of our managed trails; not all trails are accessable year round, click on a section of trail for a description and it's current condition. Our map works with your map application on your smart phone as well!
We have 195 kms of managed ATV trails, including groomed winter ATV trails. Our volunteers continue to work hard to provide safe managed trails for the enjoyment of all users
The Goals of the Rusagonis ATV Club are to:
Vice President - Eric LeClair
Treasurer - Alyson Goodfellow
Secretary - Allison Crowe
Director / Club Events Committee Chair - Derrieck Lewis
Director / Club Shelter Committee Chair - Daniel Hachey
We have 4 regular club meetings a year, they are held the first Tuesday of Apr, Jun, Sep, and Dec. 19:30 at the Rusagonis Rec Centre, 1609 Post Rd Rusagonis. New members are always welcome.
Our next club meeting is 4 Apr.
You are responsible for the rider behind you!
At all intersections have a look behind you to ensure the rider behind you sees you and sees where you turn. Make eye contact before proceeding. If the rider behind you isn't there wait 5 minutes before cautiously back tracking to find them. If all riders practice this rule no one will ever get left behind!
The pace of the run is set by the ATV in the rear.
Tip of the month: When running groomed trails use 4x4 all the time and avoid spinning. The trick is to stay on top of the packed snow and not dig through! Keep your mud tires for the Spring, stock/trail tires work much better on the winter trails.
We have 5 organized club events every year:
Winter Poker Run: Last Saturday in January.
Winter Night Fun Run: On the full moon in February.
Spring Poker Run: Last Saturday in April.
Pioneer Days Parade in Oromocto: Canada Day.
Fall Poker Run: First Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Details for each will be posted prior to the event
Keep an eye on our fb page, members are always getting together for a day on the trails. Feel free to post your run, good chance others would like to join you!
Upcoming local events;
Spring Poker Run 29 Apr, details to be announced.
We would like the community to know that we welcome everyone to all our events. Community breakfasts, BBQs, poker runs, door prize draws, and 50/50 ticket sales. Also the ATV runs are not open to just club members, they are open to all......... but you do need registration, insurance, and a trail permit to go on the run. Day passes are available for all organized club events.
We had our Club AGM on 6 Dec; President, Secretary, and 2 new Director positions were up for election.
Jim McGregor was re-elected as President.
Marjorie LeCompte stepped down as Secretary; thank-you very much for your hard work over the last 4 years Marjorie. Allison Crowe was voted in as our new Secretary.
Derrieck Lewis was voted in as a Director; his secondary job is to Chair the Events Committee.
Daniel Hachey was voted in as a Director; his secondary job is to Chair the Shelter Committee.
We are making slow but steady progress getting permission to develope a trail from Oromocto to the Lincoln Blue Canoe. The Town is amending their By-Laws which will allow us to use the current snowmobile trail within municipal limits. Next step is to get permission from the private property owners, then DNR and DTI. This is a slow complex process as there are 3 user groops involved; The Snowmobile Federation, ATV Federation, and the National Trails Coalition. Once we have agreements from all parties then we can start working on building a safe environmentally responsible trail. We are hoping for a grand opening Summer 2017.
Currently we are not permitted on the walking trail and/or old train bridge across the Oromocto river, we also do not have permission from the private property owners so you may be trespassing. If you live in Oromocto please trailer your ATV to our trail head at the Blue Canoe or the Rusagonis Rec Centre to access our trails.

If you participate in one of our organized work parties you can get $10 in Club Bucks that can be used towards a permit if bought directly from the club. It's not much but it makes a difference for some. Contact the Club President for details or watch for posts on our fb page.
